Deal Grabs 2nd in Slow & Steady Run
During the Brownstown 100 weekend at the Brownstown Bullring, the B-Mod division was tasked to only qualify, and to run their feature. Deal qualified 5th overall out of 25 cars entered. After a few hours, the track was polished up due to the amount of laps that the Late Models and Modifieds ran. For anyone who knows our driver, this type of track was making him lick his chops.
“The track was near perfect.” Deal said. “I knew if I could keep it right around the bottom we’d be in good shape.” The start of the feature was surrounded in mini-chaos. Deal had to pass by pole-sitter Treb Jacoby when he was having a tire go down. Then, Robbie Eilers clipped the turn 1 tire that sent it gradually down the surface. This only benefited Deal on the bottom, he was easily able to pass Eilers and also Matthew Edler which put him in the 3rd position. Eventually, the tire caused a caution to come out just shy of halfway of the 20-lap feature. In front of Deal, the two leaders Damian Kiefer and Brayden Doyle traded slide jobs on each other with Deal just patiently watching them. Doyle eventually pulled away from everyone, leaving Deal to have a nice side-by-side battle with Kiefer for 2nd. Deal’s tires were better off rolling around the bottom as Kiefer’s were slowly deteriorating around the slick surface. Deal edged out Kiefer for 2nd as Doyle left them in the dust.
This was our final trip to the Brownstown Bullring for the 2023 season. Next week will be our first race outside of Brownstown for our season, where we will head to Lincoln Speedway for the UMP Fall Nationals weekend. Deal will be looking to go back-to-back in Fall Nationals Feature victories.
