No Magic This Year; DNF at Lincoln

Our efforts to capture another win at the UMP Fall Nationals event at Lincoln Speedway was all for not.

The night was already off to a sour start. Deal ultimately chose the short end of the straw in qualifying and finished 4th in a group that was super identical in times posted. Anyone could’ve won pole in that group. In the heat race, per usual racing style for Deal, he tried to make something out of nothing and go where the field was not. But, the top was not developed at all, and Deal surrendered a spot to Joel Ortberg to end up finishing 5th in the heat. It would only get worse when the racetrack slowly started to rubber up as the night went on. And with Deal starting 17th in the feature, it was going to be all survival.

Turns out the survival aspect failed. Early in the feature, Deal was collected in a spin-around crash with Kevin Crowder towards the back of the pack. Deal was able to continue and ran a few laps around the middle surface. But with the constant tire failures from other cars, and spin-outs from people in the slick, Deal decided it was best to save the racecar and call it a night.

This night is ultimately the end of our season. We cannot thank our sponsors enough that make this possible and cannot wait to see them next year. Thank you everyone who supports us by either showing up to the racetrack or watching us online! See you in 2024!
